The first day of my practicum

Last Monday, I started my practicum and it was a lot of fun. I had so many mixed emotions at first but when I finally experience it, it was really awesome and these English Language Learners are really smart. I love the way they pronounce English words because it sounds so cute! There were 3 regular teachers in that particular classroom and there were 2 of us volunteers or having the required practicum.

My husband drop me off around 8:30 in the morning before the school’s entrance door opens. This means that we were waiting outside together with these cute elementary children. They’re just so adorable and its fun being with them. It makes me feel like I’m as young as them, really!

Thursday!

Earlier today was kinda gloomy and freezing but that doesn’t stop us to down the gym. After about an hour at the gym, me and Miriam to the store to get some stuff we need. Miriam runs out of baby oil and lotion so I bought her some. My husband has been telling me to get some for over a week now but I just didn’t had a chance especially that it rains a lot last week and I also had to finish my class assignments. Its due every Wednesday and although I have almost the whole week to finish every assignments, the assignments are not that easy because I need to do a lot of research for a 1000-1250 words essay. I have to admit that learning is really fun though and I can’t complain too much. I just have to focus for the bright light at the end of the tunnel and I am almost there!!!

And oh, it looks so sunny outside at the moment. When hubby gets home, we might go for a walk unless the weather changes…

Skin breakouts

I ate too much peanut butter the other day and now I am suffering skin breakouts. I guess it is because of the fats from the peanut butter that makes my skin so oily and triggers the breakouts. I looked for a remedy online and surprised to read this phisoderm reviews that talks everything I need to know about my breakouts or acne. One thing that I’ve Iearned also is that food allergies might be a possible cause of breakouts or acne. My husband told me to call our doctor to make sure what really is the cause and of course the cure for it too. I usually just let my breakouts went away but I noticed that it’ll just come back from time to time. I really want to get rid of it forever and if my doctor can figure out what’s the cause and find the best cure, then it will really solve my problem. I can’t wait now!

My first day in the classroom

Yesterday was my first day in a classroom setting where I’m not the student but I am one of the teachers. I’m not certified yet but I’ll be there soon, God be willing. The reason why I work at school yesterday is because of the required 10 hours practicum of the class that I am taking right now. I work with ELL or English Language Leaners and they are just amazing! They are really smart. They can speak English just fine but they just need a little help on their pronunciation. The way they speak in English with accent is really cute! I can’t wait to be with them next week again. It’s really exciting. I told the classroom teacher that I can still work as a volunteer even if I’m done with my practicum and she is really excited about it because she really need a lot of help with her students.

Health and fitness

Yesterday afternoon, me and my husband went to look for an exercise machine because he can’t go to the gym for his exercise since he usually get home late. He is so worried about his body now because he didn’t get enough exercise. We were looking for a treadmill but too bad, they don’t have the one that we like. The good thing though is that there is this one instrument that my husband thinks its better than the treadmill because it helps tone your whole body. Without any more question about it, we bought it right away. I also thinks that my husband needs to use some weight loss products because it will also help him loose weight faster. The good thing about it too is that its very safe for him. One of our friends was using the same thing and he looks totally amazing now. While he is taking the supplements, he work out too and that is one big factor that makes his body really toned. I won’t mind using the same supplements too because I still have this belly fats that really drives me nuts and I want to get rid of it as soon as possible.

Go banana popsicle

Miriam used to love bananas but when she turns 3 years old, she thinks that bananas are disgusting. Each time we tried to give her some, she’ll just scream because she really don’t like it. My husband is kinda worried for her not getting enough potassium. The only fruit she’ll eat is grapefruit. She love to snack on carrots too which is really good. Anyway, when me and my husband went to Trader’s Joes this evening, my husband found this chocolate coated banana popsicle. We bought it of the thought that Miriam might like it this time because we knew how much she love popsicle especially with chocolate on it. I showed the popsicle to Miriam right away but before that my husband told me not to tell her that its a banana. We were hoping that she won’t really notice the banana because it just taste like any other popsicle since its frozen. While she was licking the chocolate, she noticed the “white stuff” and finally took a small bite of it. Then she yelled, “It’s a banana Mama” hehehe…after her first bite of it and when she’s done licking the chocolate, she gave it to me. We also bought some Oreo cookies but all she wanted to eat is the white fillings. Then she gave me all the cookies without the fillings, of course. Hehehe…This child is really picky but the weird thing about her is that she love to eat this super spicy korean noodles. Even if her mouth is burning, she really doesnt care. She also love olives and sushi seaweed wrappers as snacks. Sometimes, I wonder what kind of tastebuds she has hahaha…don’t get me wrong, I do love those foods too but for a child like my daughter’s age, its hard to believe that they’re one of her favorite foods.

Miriam in the crowd

I drop off Miriam at the kid’s club this morning while I am working out. In there, not only that they can play and watch movies, they will also be doing something educational such as drawing, writing, storytelling, etc. She can stay at the kid’s club for a limit of 2 hours but usually I picked her up within an hour after. Right when she saw me entering the door, she ran to me and showed me her artwork. This morning, they had to color the drawing on this piece of paper but to my surprise, she drew something at the back on the paper instead. When I saw it, I was so amazed especially with her own interpretation about the drawing. She told me that the yellow haired girl in the crowd represents her because she was different among the others and that she is a good girl. I believe that what she was trying to tell me is that, you can be a light to others wherever you are. Based on her interpretation, I learned that even when you are in a crowd of different kinds of people with different personalities, always let your light shine no matter what! You don’t have to join the trends just to be accepted in the society, you can be different by letting them see Jesus in you and when they see your good deeds, they will follow you eventually. I am just so amazed of how brilliant her thoughts are. I thank God for her all the time!

On buying a house

Although I was envious about my friend who is going to buy a brand new house, I am really happy for her that she and her family can finally own a house. Surely, I will be missing them here in our apartment complex but she said, we can always visit each other especially that they are not that far from us. She also told me too that her husband wants to make sure that they can apply for this mortgage protection insurance as soon as they can finally move to their new home. They wanted to make sure that their mortgage will be protected and I totally agree with that. If we can buy a house in the near future, we will definitely do the same thing too. Right now, we just keep on saving because we wanted to purchase a home in cash. I know that it will probably take us a long time to be able to able to save enough money for a house but we can always wait. As my husband always said, ” good things comes to those who wait.”

It’s Friday!

I just started my class yesterday and I am so looking forward to the things that I will be learning. I’ll have practicum at school too and I am now excited about it. I can’t wait to work at school soon. This is going to be really fun!

Video games

Although my husband doesn’t play video games anymore as much as he used to, I still want to surprise him with a ps3 one of these days. Aside from the games that comes with it, what we like about it too is that it has a lot of features such as blu-ray, internet connectivity, multimedia, etc. I am planning on sending one to our family in the Philippines too. Good thing that it is very affordable now. It is really a good investment. Our friend from church just got one and he said how cool it is and how much he love it. Too bad that my husband has a very hectic schedule nowadays because our friend invited him to a gaming party this weekend and he can’t really come. Time will come when he graduates, he can do things like this again. It is not too long anymore and I am so excited for him.
